Is that why thy call me a sullen girl - sullen girl
They don't know I used to sail the deep and tranquil sea
But he washed me hore and he took my pearl -
And left an empty shell of me

It's this time of year that I really miss D.C. Meandering through the cherry blossoms by the mall and traipsing all over those monuments scattered everywhere. Skipping onto the sidewalk to get out of the way of a motorcade or other sort of emergency going on. Taking my sketchpad down to the constitution gardens and just laying on a patch of grass, trying to get a little color inbetween classes or meetings.

Even though Charlestown itself and the city of Boston as a whole is quite pretty as well in the spring, it's just not the same. It's not quite as warm here yet as I know it is in D.C. The cherry blossoms by the river are nice and all and little white and pink petals are starting to find their way onto my clothes, into my car, and along the city streets, but it's a different kind of beauty here. There are no long pools of water lying ahead of monuments that I don't even recall liking all that much, that is until I had to leave them behind.

I know that come summer, I'll be glad to be possibly a few degrees cooler and not having to trek all over the city streets without a car. I'll be overjoyed to have beaches close by and a pool to use at home when the city becomes too much. Yes, the summer I will not miss (not even wild frat party filled 4ths), but right now I wouldn't mind spending a Saturday afternoon on the mall, around Dupont, or browsing at Eastern Market. Maybe a visit is in order...
