May 14th, 2004 Ahhhhh! It's Friday already and in about 7 hours my family will arrive. First my father and then my mother and the rest of the crew soon after. This is going to get interesting... When we started here it seemed like it was going to take forever to actually reach "Graduation". This ominious time in our lives when we'd celebrate everything we'd toiled for over four years or so. A time when we'd have to make what seemed like a much bigger decision and committment than choosing where to attend college or spend a summer inbetween years. From this point out we'd be deciding, "theoretically", what direction the rest of our life would be heading. More school, a job - all of our furture plans rested in the answer to the question, "What are you doing after graduation?" At least now I finally have a definitive answer. This past week has been such a blur and I've been trying to catch it all on film in efforts to remember exactly what was going on at each moment, but eventually I realized that it doesn't really matter. I know that pictures or not, I'm going to remember the moments and people that really mattered to me and all of the things we've done and will do right up until that final cap & gown moment. The thing is, as wonderful as that moment will be, it all just seems like a little too much at the moment. Maybe too much of a hassle is what I mean, with the family flying and driving in, reservations to be made, various events to go to all in two very compact days. I'm not sure you could do it any easier, since I really do want my family there to share in all of my joy, I just wish it didn't all have to be so rushed and stressed. It's only 8:15am and my mother has already called twice this morning with new things that I have to tackle in preparation....yeah....this is going to be fabulous :-) |
